Peterborough Lakers

Home opener of the Peterborough Lakers was last night at the Memorial Centre. The Lakers played Brampton Excelsiors that is a young and upcoming team in the MSL. Some Peterborough regulars were still out due to injury or playing the NLL Championship but there was most of the core pieces played last night like Evans, Hope, Steenhuis and Buchanan.
Cory Small was introduced to the Lakers faithful as a member of the Laker family. Cory did not disappoint. Cory is a shooter finding the small openings past the goaltender by shooting with pinpoint accuracy and speed. He was very impressive with a 3 goal and an assist preformance. Another stand out was call up Dan Michel who wore number 4 last night. Michel scored 2 big goals and had 2 assists. Set up man Shawn Evans also had a stellar game with 1 goal and 5 assists. Goals also came from Steenhuis, Buchanan, Weiss and Fox.
Lakers had to work hard for their 10-8 win but they got the job done then night the banner was raised for their 2017 Mann Cup Championship.

Ward St Widening

I attended the public information meeting on the determination of the need to widen Ward St. There was a study completed and multiable plans developed with an overall recommended plan what to do with Ward St. I viewed all the displayed board and I learned the thought is NOT to widen Ward St but revitalize the stretch with new sidewalks, landscaping and a multi-use path. This would make Ward St look amazing. A true Main Street to be proud of. The problem being for some I am sure this plan leaves the idea of the Bridgenorth by-pass in play.
